All participants in the Learn to Play Hockey program must have a valid USA Hockey number before registration.  To obtain this number please visit and click become a member.
Registration is now open for the 2020-2021 sessions of the Swords Learn to Play Hockey.  Swords Learn to Play Hockey is a combination of hockey skills and scrimmage situations taught by a professional and friendly staff. 
Whether you’re brand new to hockey or have taken a break and want to get back into hockey, here’s a great way to get started.  The class is open to boys and girls ages 4-16.


We have reformulated our curriculum to enhance each skater's individual experience on the ice.  Skaters will be divided into small groups based on a combination of skills and age.  The goal will be to teach your skater the skills necessary to participate on a hockey team within 2-4 sessions.  

Each Program offers:

  • 10 week session
  • Sunday afternoons
  • 1 1/4 hours on ice
  • Jersey (given after first evaluation)
  • $175 if registered in advance of 1st class, the fee will increase by $50 if registered less than 72 hours prior to the 1st class
Skating skills taught will include forward and backward crossovers, pivot turns, hockey stops, and other skills relating to balance, quickness and power. Basic stick handling, passing and shooting are covered as well. Full equipment is required.

Equipment Rental Program

The Cincinnati Swords Hockey and Skating Academy is pleased to announce the addition of a hockey equipment rental program for the Learn to Play Hockey Program.  The rental program will allow our young skaters ages 10 and younger, a chance to start learning our game without the expense of having to purchase full gear.

Included in the rental is a bag, helmet, shin guards, elbow pads, chest protector and pants.  Families will be required to purchase skates and a stick for their player on their own.

The rental fee of just $25 per session will be handled as part of the registration process for the Learn to Play Hockey Program.

Limited quantities and sizes available.  

Due to COVID-19, please note that you are responsible for washing the gear when you receive it and before you return it.
