Registration is now open for the 2024-2025 sessions of the Queen City Hockey Learn to Play Hockey. Queen City Hockey Learn to Play Hockey is a combination of hockey skills and scrimmage situations taught by a professional and friendly staff.
Participants in both Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey need Learn to Skate numbers
Queen City Hockey Learn to Play Hockey is held at the Northlands Ice Center located at 10400 Reading Road in Evendale Ohio.
The class is open to youth and adults ages 4+ with skating experience.
Learn to Play vs Learn to Skate -- If your child is just starting on skates we recommend that they attend the Learn to Skate program first. Before moving to LTPH, we would like all players to be able to move forward on their own and be able to stop.
Skaters will be divided into small groups based on a combination of skills and age. The goal will be to teach your skater the skills necessary to participate on a hockey team within 2-4 sessions.
We are proud of our Learn to Play Hockey Instructors
These coaches are Learn to Skate USA members and certified Instructors.
They are current on safe sport training and background checks.
In addition they complete the Ohio requirements for concussion training and Lindsay's Law.
Skating skills taught will include forward and backward crossovers, pivot turns, hockey stops, and other skills relating to balance, quickness and power. Basic stick handling, passing and shooting are covered as well. Full equipment is required. Have your child try the equipment on before their first lesson. Have them wear it around the house to get used to the feeling before they enter the ice surface.
For $275 skaters can attend Learn to Play Hockey (LTPH) along with Learn to Skate (LTS) Hockey 2,3,or 4 (depending on their skill level).
The Queen City Hockey Association Hockey and Skating Academy is pleased to announce the addition of a hockey equipment rental program for the Learn to Play Hockey Program.
The rental program will allow our young skaters a chance to start learning our game without the expense of having to purchase full gear. Our available sizes are youth small to youth large.
Included in the rental is a bag, helmet, shin guards, elbow pads, chest protector, gloves and pants. Families will be required to purchase skates and a stick for their player on their own.
The rental fee of just $25 per session will be handled as part of the registration process for the Learn to Play Hockey Program.
